Easter Run ...... April 8th
10.00 at the Blue Bell, Riverhead. Our meeting point. A chance to get an early breakfast, one of many.
First stop Scarborough C-front. Then off to Whitby to pay our respects to Lee who lost his life in an accident last Easter, We all miss him.
Alice's bike brakes down but she manages to nurse it through Whitby to Sandsend. We all stop for another breakfast while she rings the AA. No problem we have some one local, be with you in 20 minutes.

It's at this point Satiny finds his exhaust is dropping off. Rob say's he can fix it, we say go halves on the recovery truck. If it was a Harley, tools are no problem, any size hammer will do!!

3.20, that's the longest 20 minutes we've had to hang around. But low, what's that on the horizon, we see yellow flashing lights. Only 40 minutes late but he's here.

Why's he buggering about up the road when the bikes down here?

Ah Shit !!
Sorry Alice, If you cant get it into a wheele bin then they won't take it.

OSBMCC trip to the 'Icy Ale Rally' 2nd December 2006

On Saturday 2nd December a few of us hardy souls, namely, Paul (rock it) Leason, Steve (knee down) Morrison, Paul and Sarah (Styanie) Styan, and I Tony (speed up a bit) Anderson set off to join the 'Icy Ale Rally' in the southern depths of Yellow Belly land.

The wind was blowing a bit, but worse was to come, and it was nothing to do with what we had for breakfast!

We set off from the 'Blue Bell' pub a little late because Sarah had to drag him out of bed. Leo was leading and apart from a couple of hiccups, one where Steve tried to barter with the Humber bridge man for a cheap ticket and another where Steve (again!) said 'he went that a way' but he (Leo) hadn't, we got to the camp site in good time. At the site we met up with another member, Derek (any rally, any time) Lockwood.

We found a nice quiet spot and did some erecting (of our tents). Well maybe Steve did (check out the photo!). Then we set off for the local village. The sun was shining and all was well with the World.

By the time we got back we had a hunger and a thirst so it was off to the pub (on the site! Good eh? ) for a huge meal (was for me anyway) and copious amounts of ale. After trying a few of the hand brewed efforts Steve disappeared to his tent and returned with some el cheapo tins of bitter. To insult the landlord even more he left the empties on the table in full view of the irate barman!

Then it was off to listen to the band, who turned out to be a sort of English / Jockanese folk / rock band. Not bad though especially with a few beers down you. So Steve and I had a few jigs.

At silly o'clock and after more beers it was time to go to bed. By this time the wind was definitely starting to get up! When we were all snuggled up in our maggots the rain came down (or sideways) and the wind tried to turn all our tents into kites! But we survived the night as the photo of the 'OSBMCC tents at dawn' show!

I couldn't really sleep so at about 6.30 am I got up and trudged over to the toilets (proper ones) to stick my head in a sink of water. From then onwards people slowly started to come to life. It was a bit like one of those zombie films! But the good news was the rain had stopped.

After packing our tents we shot off in search of breakfast and something to warm up Mrs. Styanie (thermals?). Steve had the correct money at the bridge this time and we made good progress (because I was leading!).

I think a good time was had by all, and it just goes to show that rallies are not just a summer thing.

Next rally ………… 12th January 2007!!!!!!!

Ride out & Barbecue Aug. 2006

Sunday 20th August we had a ride out which left the Blue Bell at 09.00 hrs. Well it didn't really because one or two were late but what the hell!

Kev Cadwallader was due to lead us off into the unknown, but due to unforeseen circumstances he turned up in a car! (There were a couple of comments that he would be quicker on four wheels, but that didn't come from me!).

Leo duly stepped forward and became our new tour guide, and some of us needed him because he took us down some right little back roads!

So we, Leo (TLS 1000), Styany and Mrs. Styany (VFR), Steve Nic (ZZR 600), Dave (BMW 1200R), John (GS 500) and me on my Bandit 600S set off into the wild yonder, Well Blakey Ridge actually. When we got there we all swore we smelt bacon (even though there was a lot of mutton about!), so we ventured in only to be disappointed. It's a nice little pub (the Lion) though and I can understand why a number of the club members enjoyed the trips up to there in October and February?

We had a cup of tea (or coffee) and promptly got rid of it in the toilets, then set off again, this time in search of bacon! Unfortunately the Styany's had to head back because Paul had to search for his worm(s)! "ed, can he say that?"

Leo's nose did not let us down and we and we parked up outside a café in picturesque Castleton. BLT's and full breakfasts were consumed with more tea and coffee, Steve Nic seemed to take a real shine to the two wool clad ladies who were strolling down the middle of the road and swinging their hips at him!! Then we set off again. By this time we could see some clouds in the far distance but it was still sunny (ish) overhead.
Leo lead us on a roundabout route to the outskirts of Whitby, where the weather was so nice we could have stopped for a spot of sunbathing and scared off the locals! Leo kindly pointed out the flowers laid for Lee.

After Whitby we headed sort of south, via Forge Valley, a lovely route but unfortunately where the rain clouds finally caught up with us, and the heavens opened! We couldn't see much, especially John who had a dark visor on and Steve who forgot he was wearing his shades! So Leo pulled up under some trees and we waited for the worst of the deluge to disperse. When the weather subsided a bit we set off again. We got to Staxton roundabout where everyone (except Leo) thought we were turning right! But another deviation though Hunmanby and Kilham and we were back to Driffield.

This picture's not out of focus, it's the rain

A good day out not spoiled by the rain. Many thanks Leo.

At 5.00 pm the barbeque started and to tell you the truth there weren't many of us there! Maxine was looking hassled! But people turned up throughout the night and it turned into a Barbie cum meeting. "ed, can he say that?"

Again many thanks to Maxine and co for the food. I good night was had by all.
